Janet Evans, 15, of Fullerton, posted her third victory of the U.S. Swimming Open by winning the 800-meter freestyle event at Orlando, Fla.
Evans, who won the 400-meter freestyle Friday and the 400-meter individual medley Saturday, was timed in at 8:32.85.
Dara Torres of Beverly Hills took the women’s 100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.23:2.
Troy Dalbey of San Jose won the men’s 100-meter freestyle in 50.39 seconds, while Steve Bently of Fountain Valley won the men’s 200-meter breaststroke in 2:17.49, breaking the meet record of 2:17.85 he set in 1985.
