The Auto and Freedom
Let’s just assume for a minute that it is the year 2000, and the Orange County supervisors, county Transportation Commission, county Transit District and California Department of Transportation have been successful in limiting our number of freeways and forcing 40% of the work force onto district buses and rapid transit systems.
Now, overnight, the good bus drivers and transit operators decide to strike. The million or so riders wake up to no transit service. They may not be able to get to work, but I bet they would find a way to march down to the transit district in mass.
Come on, wake up, citizens of Orange County. Your car is one of your only means of freedom. Pay the extra few cents in gas tax or whatever it takes for us to keep our cars, our freeways and our freedom.
