Palomar College running back LaMont Parks is expected to sign a letter of intent with San Diego State today, according to Palomar Coach Tom Craft.

Parks rushed for 778 yards and caught 30 passes this season despite missing two games with a strained knee.

“The thing they like about LaMont is that he catches the football real well,” Craft said.

SDSU also has signed three out-of-town community college players--offensive tackle Semita Tuiaana and linebacker Lane Santiago of Sacramento City and defensive tackle Todd Coomes of Snow College in Utah.

Aztec Notes Palomar defensive end Brad Henke, who initially said he wanted to attend USC, also is considering SDSU and Brigham Young. “He’s going to wait until they hire a new coach at USC then see if things pick up there,” Craft said. “Ted Tollner had committed a scholarship to him. After they hire a new coach at USC, then he’ll make his decision.” . . . Theodor Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, has been named honorary chairman of the Holiday Bowl. Seuss has been a San Diego resident since 1940.
