Two men were arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing and transporting methamphetamines after they were stopped by police for driving a car without taillights, San Diego police said.

Police also seized three gallons of chemicals and chemistry equipment used to manufacture methamphetamines, Sgt. Jim Wallace said.

Arrested on suspicion of manufacturing, possessing and transporting methamphetamines were Luis Delgado, 26, and Kim Ross Hines, 30, both of San Diego. Delgado also was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

Police officers spotted the car about 1 a.m. in the 12300 block of Black Mountain Road without any taillights and signaled the vehicle to pull to the side of the road, Wallace said. When the officers got of their patrol car they noticed an odor, apparently ether, coming from the suspects’ vehicle.

A search uncovered the chemicals, Wallace said.
