Hillery Murder Jury ‘Divided’
The jury deliberating the retrial of Booker T. Hillery, who spent 24 years in prison on a conviction of murdering a Hanford teen-ager, informed the judge Wednesday that they were “divided” over the defendant’s guilt.
Monterey Superior Court Judge John M. Phillips instructed the jurors, who received the case Tuesday morning, to resume deliberations, and the jury continued until Wednesday afternoon, then recessed for the day. Deliberations will continue today.
Hillery was first convicted of fatally stabbing 15-year-old Marlene Miller in the throat with a pair of scissors in 1962.
