Texas Tech’s Spike Dykes will make his head coaching debut in the Independence Bowl against Mississippi tonight at Shreveport, La., in the Red Raiders’ first bowl game in nine years.

Dykes took over from David McWilliams at the end of the regular season after McWilliams left to coach Texas. “I don’t think you’ll see any changes from us,” Dykes said. “Why fix something if it isn’t broken?”

Mississippi (7-3-1) is a 3-point favorite over Tech (7-4). The game will be televised on Channel 11 at 5 p.m. PST.
