Bomb Scare in Pacific Palisades

Share

Los Angeles police evacuated a section of the Pacific Palisades business district for more than two hours today as officers searched for a would-be robber who claimed to have planted explosives near a branch of the Santa Monica Bank at 15245 Sunset Blvd.

The suspect confronted the bank manager at about 9 a.m., demanding money and claiming to have placed bombs near the building. The manager escaped and called the police, and the suspect then slipped away. After discovering wires sticking out of three planters outside the building, the police bomb squad set off charges to break up the planters but determined that no bombs had been placed by the suspect, who remained at large this afternoon.
