Thomas A. Fuentes has announced that he will seek a second two-year term as the head of the county Republican Party when the party’s central committee meets to organize on Jan. 12.

Fuentes, who was first elected chairman in 1985, has overseen the largest growth of the Republican Party in the county’s history. The party now holds all state Assembly, state Senate and congressional seats in the county.

Fuentes, 38, began walking precincts for the Republican Party when he was 12, and he was first elected to the Orange County Central Committee in 1972. He is the senior vice president of the Newport Beach civil engineering and land planning firm of Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates. He also serves as the spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Orange. He and his wife, Jolene, live in Newport Beach and have one child.

“Our goals in the new term of the central committee are to sustain a strong registration margin, to support our marvelous team of Republican incumbents and nominees, and to raise the funds necessary to achieve these two goals,” Fuentes said.
