Huston, Samuelson Lead Chapman

Jon Samuelson scored 18 points and Kelly Huston added 17 Saturday night to lead Chapman College’s men’s basketball team to an 80-76 overtime victory over UC Davis in nonconference action at Davis.

The Panthers (7-5) led at halftime, 35-31. Davis (2-7) outscored Chapman, 20-8, in the first seven minutes of the second half to lead, 51-43.

The Panthers came back to tie the game at 56-56 on a basket by Huston, and then the lead was exchanged four more times before Huston connected on a free throw with 53 seconds left to tie the game, 67-67, sending it into overtime.

Chapman scored the first four points of the overtime on a basket by Mo Thompson and free throws by Huston and Karl Tompkins and never trailed in overtime.
