Marcus Malone scored 36 points and had 13 rebounds to lead Kennedy High to a 76-69 win over Westchester in the semifinals of the Palisades tournament on Saturday night at Pepperdine.
Kennedy will meet Culver City, a 69-59 winner over El Camino Real, on Monday night at 6 p.m.
Malone, a senior swingman, scored 21 of his points in the first half, when Kennedy (7-2) took a 36-33 lead.
In Culver City’s win, El Camino Real trailed, 43-26, at halftime. El Camino Real closed to within four points, 63-59, when Nick Warner hit a follow with 1:30 left. However, Culver City (5-7) scored the final six points to secure a berth in the championship game on Monday against Kennedy. El Camino Real will play Westchester on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the third-place game.
In another game, Rio Mesa beat Thousand Oaks, 62-43.
