Australia Is No. 1

According to a recent survey of American senior travelers, their first choice of destination outside of the United States for 1987 was Australia. The survey, conducted for Saga Holidays, indicated that the next four areas preferred were the Far East, United Kingdom, Scandinavia and South America. Saga says that the results are generally consistent with its top-selling tours to America’s senior travelers.

Projected Best Seller

A projected best seller for 1987 is Saga’s Australian Adventure, a 25-night trip that includes Sydney on the east coast, Perth on the west, Melbourne in the south, plus Alice Springs, Ayers Rock, the Barrier Reef, Adelaide and other areas of interest. Travel is by air, rail and boat and the itinerary includes side trips and tours.

The price is $3,479 per person including round-trip air fare from Los Angeles and transportation in Australia including train fare, tours and excursions, transfers, taxes and insurance.

Saga has dozens of senior-oriented tours described in its 57-page “Early Bird” brochure. For a free copy write to Saga Holidays, Dept. MT, 120 Boylston St., Boston, Mass. 02116. Or call (800) 762-3413.

Travel to Yugoslavia and the Adriatic Coast should continue to grow because it appears that published prices for tours in 1987 will hold stable, except for some possible midyear adjustments in air fares.

Fare for Seniors

Yugoslav Airlines has established a senior citizens air fare which, in combination with moderate land costs, will keep package prices at an affordable level. Tours called “Prime of Your Life Vacations” have been designed for mature travelers and are offered by Yugotours for travelers age 50 and over.
