It’s a Buoy, Expectant Coast Guard Reports

BOCA RATON, Fla. — A floating object thought to be a World War II mine turned out to be only a harmless mooring buoy, the Coast Guard said Sunday after sending two patrol boats and several explosives experts to investigate.
“It was a round ball with an attachment point on it. People who have seen movies with these old World War II mines thought it looked like the old mines you see in movies,” said Coast Guard Lt. Sam Jeffries.
