Onion Field Killer Ruling
Even in the wake of defeat and elimination, Rose Bird and her two cohorts on the state Supreme Court are determined to grant some final favors to coldblooded killers.
It is disgusting to myself and every other law-abiding citizen of California how our Supreme Court has consistently given the ultimate consideration to savage murderers while completely disregarding the rights and dignities of their victims and loved ones.
As a 19-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, I have watched over the years how the Supreme Court has strived to undermine the efforts of law enforcement and instill their own values on what they think the law is all about.
Led by Rose Bird, our Supreme Court has managed to examine every death sentence appeal with a microscope, searching for the most minuscule reason to overturn the conviction. In almost every case, the judges found a tiny defect during the criminal proceeding, offering new life and new hopes to thousands of vicious, inhumane criminals. Rose Bird will definitely leave her mark on the California criminal justice system for years to come!
Supposedly, the fate of Gregory Powell was sealed in 1972 when the court agreed that he should spend the rest of his life in prison. But now there is the possibility of parole in the near future.
Hopefully, Gov. George Deukmejian can appoint three successors soon and bring back some justice and common sense to that judicial body.
