Stanton : Garden Grove Driver Dies After Collision
A Garden Grove man died Thursday night from injuries suffered in a collision with an suspected drunk driver, police said.
William LaPierre, 40, was driving in the 11000 block of Dale Avenue in Stanton at 7:30 p.m. when his car collided with one driven by James Weatherford, 29, of Anaheim, police said. LaPierre’s car then sideswiped a third car driven by Julia Montineri, 69, of Garden Grove, who was treated for minor injuries.
LaPierre was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He died at 1:20 a.m.
Police said Weatherford failed a sobriety test at the scene and was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving. He is being held at the County Jail pending arraignment.
