Lakers Attempt to End One-Game Skid

Share

The Lakers, who lost for only the third time in their last 14 games Thursday night in Utah, will play the Golden State Warriors tonight (Channel 9, 8 p.m.).

The Warriors, who have split their last 10 games with the Lakers here, have a 19-16 record and are in third place in the Pacific Division, eight games behind the Lakers. They’re still playing without guard Purvis Short, their leading scorer, who has been out since mid-November with a partially torn ligament in his left knee.

The Warriors are 2-2 so far in a six-game homestand. They missed 22 of 48 free throws in a 115-108 loss to Seattle Thursday night.

The Lakers, who lost to the Warriors here in December, had their worst shooting night of the season in their 107-101 loss to Utah Thursday night. Laker guards Magic Johnson, Byron Scott, Michael Cooper and Wes Matthews combined to make only 21 of 65 shots.

The Lakers return home to play San Antonio Sunday night.
