Possible Human Remains Discovered

Parts of what appear to be a human pelvis and femur washed ashore Saturday afternoon along a section of Leisure Lagoon near Interstate 5 in Mission Bay, San Diego police reported.
The bones, discovered by a passer-by, were partially covered with flesh, police said, noting that no other body parts were discovered in the water or on the beach. Authorities have no idea where the bones came from or how long they had been in the water.
The body parts were turned over to the county coroner’s office, which will attempt to verify whether they are human remains.
