Charges against a former Texas A&M; football player were upgraded to murder with the death at Daytona Beach, Fla., of 17-year-old Teri Harry, who was declared brain dead a week ago after a stray bullet struck her in the forehead.
Richard Siler, 23, was ordered jailed without bond. He was charged earlier with attempted murder and was free on $5,000 bond.
Siler told police he was just trying to frighten a group of teen-agers. Siler told police he attempted to fire a gun at the ground, but it wouldn’t fire. He said he leaned out the car window and struck the back of the gun against the car, which caused it to discharge.
