West Covina : 2 City Departments Merged
The city has merged its Human Resources and Recreation Services departments to form what is now called the Human Services Department, a move that is expected to save about $34,000.
City officials said the action is part of a reorganization plan that will involve assessing the changing recreational and human service needs of the community.
Gus Salazar, former director of the Human Resources Department, will head the new department. Norman Stevens, who served as recreation services director, retired Dec. 31. The $34,000 savings represents half of Stevens’ annual salary plus benefits.
