Hahn’s Dizzy Spell Still a Mystery; Answers Expected From Further Tests

Share

After more than three days of tests, doctors at Daniel Freeman Hospital have not determined exactly what caused veteran Los Angeles County Supervisor Kenneth Hahn to suffer a short dizzy spell Sunday.

But a Hahn deputy, Dan Wolf, said Wednesday that “there is reason to believe we will find out” today, adding that the supervisor, who is listed in good condition, also is anxious to learn the cause of the dizzy spell.

Wolf, who said he has been in close contact with hospital officials, said doctors are expected to draw some conclusions about the incident after examining the results of a battery of tests that began Monday.

Hahn, 66, underwent double-bypass heart surgery 11 years ago, but doctors have not determined if Sunday’s incident is related to circulation problems. Nor have they ruled out the possibility that Hahn suffered a mild stroke, as paramedics originally suspected.

Hahn underwent a CAT-scan Monday, a day after he appeared to have become disoriented and dizzy and momentarily lost control of his left arm while attending a dinner in Gardena.

Hahn has been on the county board since 1952.
