8 Southland Projects Win Builder Awards

Southland projects garnered eight of the 52 awards granted in the annual Builder’s Choice design and planning contest sponsored by Builder, the official magazine of the National Assn. of Home Builders.
Leisure Village Ocean Hills, Oceanside, a project of Leisure Technology Inc., received a merit award in the production housing category. It was designed by Berkus Group Architects, Newport Beach. In the overall development category, Seaview Estates, Long Beach, designed by Collins & Wraight Inc., Santa Ana, and Belcort Terrace Collection, Newport Beach, designed by McLarand, Vasquez & Partners Inc., Costa Mesa, both winning honorable mentions.
Winners in the custom housing category included The Wayne residence, Newport Beach, Steward Woodard & Associates AIA, Costa Mesa, merit award, and two honorable mentions, Via Abrigada II, Santa Barbara, Berkus Group Architects, and Manger residence, Laguna Niguel, Collins/Steichen Architect, Anaheim.
Also, the Robertson residence, Santa Monica, designed by Steven D. Ehrlich AIA Architects Inc., Venice, won a merit award in the remodeling category, and the Vintage Swim & Tennis Club, Indian Wells, won a grand award for architects Fisher-Friedman Associates, San Francisco.
