A 63-count indictment charging eight defendants with conducting illegal boiler room operations from El Toro and Newport Beach in Orange County and Bellevue, Wash., has been returned in Los Angeles federal court. Assistant U.S. Atty. Leon W. Weidman said one $8.5-million scam involved the sale of precious metal futures contracts through First Trading Ltd. and the other scheme involved the fraudulent sale of oil well completion contracts under the name of Sterling, Peabody & Co. Inc. Named in the indictment were Todd Fisch, 25; Joel H. Fisch, 56; Joan D. Fisch, 54; Warren J. Sharp, 43; Ronald West, 55; Daniel Scott Hochstein, 25; Richard Tommasi, and Michael Wallach.
