La Verne : Funds Sought for Center
A committee of civic and business leaders is seeking $500,000 for the construction of a multipurpose community center adjacent to La Verne City Hall.
The 13,430-square-foot structure was proposed last year after a survey showed that residents wanted an informal meeting place and recreation center for youths and senior citizens.
The city already has acquired $750,000 in state and federal grants for the building, which also will house reception and banquet facilities.
