Chicago Bulls guard Michael Jordan, the NBA’s leading scorer, has received a record number of votes in the final fan balloting for the starting teams in the All-Star game, the league announced.

Jordan, who is averaging 37.6 points a game, drew 1,141,733 votes, breaking the mark of 1,060,892 set last year by guard Magic Johnson of the Lakers. A record total of 3,200,528 votes was cast, surpassing the previous mark of 3,017,794 set last year.

The East starters are Moses Malone of the Washington Bullets at center, Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks and Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics at forwards, and Jordan and Julius Erving of the Philadelphia 76ers at guards.

The West starters are Akeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets at center, Ralph Sampson of the Rockets and James Worthy of the Lakers at forwards, and Johnson and Alvin Robertson of the San Antonio Spurs at guards.
