Rafael Septien, the kicker for the Dallas Cowboys, was indicted in Denton, Tex., on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl, authorities said.
The indictment returned by a Denton County Grand Jury alleges that the child was molested Dec. 28. If convicted, Septien, 33, could be sentenced to a maximum of life in prison and $10,000.
Septien surrendered Thursday afternoon, was booked and then released after his attorneys posted bond.
The officer who had begun the Septien investigation also was arrested on the same charge, Capt. Jim Neal of the Denton County Sheriff’s Office said. Officer Forrest Paul Wood, 35, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and released on a $10,000 bond.
“I don’t know whether the cases are related or have anything to do with each other,” Neal said.
