Aztecs Go Cold and Lose to UCI, 55-53
San Diego State scored one point in the final five minutes as UC Irvine rallied for a 55-53 victory in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s basketball game Monday night at Irvine.
The Aztecs led, 52-44, but were outscored, 10-1. Cheryl Hoffman turned a steal and a layup into UCI’s first lead of the game, 54-53, with 43 seconds left. SDSU guard Lisa Stevens had a 10-foot shot blocked at the buzzer by guard Shurrell Johnson.
Sheri Edmonds led the Aztecs (3-5, 6-11) with 12 points. Natalie Crawford paced UCI (5-2, 9-8) with 13.
