The Orange County district attorney’s office has completed its investigation of allegations that a 15-year-old Explorer Scout was sexually molested by an Irvine police sergeant, and the results are being forwarded to law-enforcement officials in Calaveras and Riverside counties, where the incidents were alleged to have occurred.

Deputy Dist. Atty. David Himelson said “last Friday we notified the local victim that we found that no criminal activity had taken place in Orange County. However, we did find possible criminal actions to have taken place in Calaveras County and possibly Riverside County.”

Himelson, head of the sexual assault and child abuse unit of the district attorney’s office, said Tuesday that the information was also given to the Irvine Police Department, which is conducting its own internal investigation. The allegations surfaced in a $10-million claim filed last week against the city by the boy’s parents.

“There has never been an allegation that there were criminal activities in Orange County,” said R. Q. Shupe, the family’s attorney.

According to Lt. Mike White, head of internal affairs for the Irvine Police Department, Sgt. Robert Kredel, who served as an adviser to the Explorer post sponsored by the department, is still on suspension, with pay.
