The California Employment Development Dept. reported that the county’s unemployment rate in December was 6.0%, down from 6.4% the month before. The rate was up, however, from 5.4% in December, 1985. State officials said joblessness declined from November even though the number of people employed fell to 3,884,000 from 3,912,000. The county figures are not adjusted for seasonal trends. In December, California reported an unadjusted jobless rate of 6.3%.
