Lisa Hartman, who played the characters of Ciji and Cathy on “Knots Landing,” has landed the plum role in a four-hour movie for CBS, “Roses Are for the Rich,” based on the novel by Jonell Lawson. She plays a woman whose career ambitions are fueled by a desire to get revenge for her unhappy childhood. The cast also includes Bruce Dern, Richard Masur, Howard Duff, Morgan Stevens, Kate Mulgrew and Jim Youngs.

Jerry Lewis and Patty Duke are cast as husband and wife in “Fight for Life,” a movie for ABC. They play the parents of a 6-year-old girl who is epileptic and get caught up in a fight with the Federal Drug Administration about using a drug that might help her.

After a trip to Paris in 1982, the girls from “The Facts of Life” turn up in Australia Feb. 15 with NBC’s presentation of “The Facts of Life Down Under.” It’s a two-hour edition of the comedy series, shot on location as the characters participate in a cultural-exchange program.

Richard Crenna will host “Is There Life After Cancer?,” an hourlong documentary that KHJ-TV Channel 9 will be broadcasting Feb. 22. The program aims to let viewers know of recent medical and psychological developments in the treatment of cancer that have reduced or eliminated the illness in many patients.

Lynda Carter plays a reporter and Angie Dickinson is cast as a U.S. senator in “Stillwatch,” a movie that CBS plans to broadcast Feb. 10. It involves romance, politics and the occult. It’s adapted from a novel by Mary Higgins Clark and co-stars Don Murray, Barry Primus, Louise Latham, Stuart Whitman, Walter Olkewicz and Bibi Osterwald.

Wil Wheaton from “Stand By Me” is playing “Young Harry Houdini” in a production for “The Disney Sunday Movie.” ABC describes the project as “a fictionalized account of an adventure that changed the life of the world’s most famous escape artist.” Jose Ferrer also stars.

This year’s Miss USA Pageant will be staged in Albuquerque, N.M., for broadcast on CBS Feb. 17, with Bob Barker and Mary Frann as hosts. The winner goes on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant.

Armand Assante will play a police detective whose wife is raped in “Hands of a Stranger,” a four-hour adaptation of Robert Daley’s novel. Also starring in the production for NBC are Beverly D’Angelo as Assante’s wife and Blair Brown as his extramarital lover, an assistant district attorney who is charged with investigating the rape case.

With the recent death of Ray Bolger, all of the stars of “The Wizard of Oz” have passed on, but, happily, the film endures. Mark your calendars for March 6. That’s when Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion will skip down the Yellow Brick Road again on CBS.
