13 Rail Cars Derail Near El Toro

Thirteen cars of a 78-car Santa Fe Railroad freight train derailed near El Toro this morning, ripping up 150 feet of track and forcing Amtrak passengers onto buses to complete trips between San Diego and Los Angeles, authorities said.
There were no injuries and no damage to nearby residences, said Lt. Bob Rivas of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
