Bol Blocks 12, Ends Assist Drought

LANDOVER, Md. — Moses Malone scored 13 of his 20 points in the third quarter, including the go-ahead basket off of Manute Bol’s first assist this season after a 662-minute drought, to carry the Washington Bullets to a 94-85 victory Thursday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

On the go-ahead basket, Malone passed inside to Bol, who threw the ball back to Malone in the lane for an uncontested layin that pushed Washington ahead, 61-59, with 2:47 left in the period.

Bol, the 7-foot 6-inch second-year center who had played in the first 45 games of the season without an assist, also had 12 blocked shots Thursday night, the most by a player in an NBA game this season.

Brad Daugherty led Cleveland with 17 points.
