Lynn Harris, the attorney for Dr. Brent M. Pratley, former orthopedic surgeon for Brigham Young’s football team, said that changes that Brantley illegally prescribed drugs to players are “outlandish.”
A petition filed by the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing has asked that Pratley’s authority to prescribe drugs he lifted. It alleges that from 1980-86, Pratley illegally prescribed Percodan “and other controlled substances” to players Trevor Molini, Steve Sanders, J.C. VanColin, Jeff Wilcox and Bruce Hansen.
Molini, Sanders and VanColin were subsequently treated for addiction to Percodan at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. They were arrested last year and charged with altering or forging drug prescriptions.
