SUN CITY, South Africa —
South African heavyweight boxer Johnny du Plooy scored his 12th successive victory Saturday night, scoring a knockout over K.P. Porter of Kalamazoo, Mich., in the sixth round of a scheduled 10-round bout.
Few punches were thrown by either fighter until the sixth, when Porter went down on one knee at his corner clutching his eye. He complained to referee Jules Van der Hooven that he had been thumbed by du Plooy.
Porter was allowed a minute’s rest and lost a point.
