The new wife of Sir Rudolf Bing says her husband deserves a high standard of living and denies allegations that she is squandering his money. “Sir Rudolf is on a high level, so it is appropriate that he goes to places he deserves,” Carroll Douglass, 47, said Tuesday in her first public statement since the couple left the United States in January during a court battle over his assets. During an Associated Press interview in the garden of their rented home on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, Douglass angrily denied any overspending of Bing’s money. “I bought a $156 black-and-white dress to wear to the opera,” she said. “The other dresses were $24 Indian prints. I did not go out and buy a fur coat.”
