Toler-Led Long Beach Beats SDSU, 109-73
Penny Toler scored 28 points to lead Cal State Long Beach to a 109-73 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over San Diego State Saturday night at Long Beach.
The victory clinched the PCAA title for fifth-ranked Long Beach (15-1, 25-2).
Toler, who played at SDSU in 1984-85, made 12 of 23 shots from the floor but led a 37-10 first-half spurt that opened up a 18-13 lead.
Cindy Brown added 26 points on 9-of-10 shooting and had 11 rebounds for Long Beach.
Jessica Haynes had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Aztecs (7-9, 10-15), who committed 19 first-half turnovers and 28 for the game.
