The roommate of Kevin Allen, former Philadelphia Eagle football player, pleaded guilty in Atlantic City, N.J., to helping Allen rape a woman on a beach and agreed to testify against his friend.
Scott Cartwright, 25, a former teacher, admitted to one count of aggravated assault and one count of acting as an accomplice to aggravated sexual contact.
Allen, 23, and Cartwright, roommates in a Cherry Hill, N.J., condominium, were accused of raping a Massachusetts woman on a beach in Margate, N.J., Sept. 1 and beating unconscious the woman’s male companion.
Allen, a 6-foot 5-inch offensive tackle, was a first-round draft choice in 1985 from Indiana University. He was cut by the Eagles the week before his October arrest.
