L.A. Starlites Win Their Home Opener
The Starlites, Los Angeles’ entry in the women’s Major League Volleyball league, won their home opener Sunday night, defeating the Minnesota Monarchs, 16-14, 15-4, 15-3, before 1,112 at Cal State Long Beach.
Debbie Green-Vargas, a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team, had 37 assists, and former UCLA player Patty Dodd had 13 kills as the Starlites improved their record to 2-0, having swept New York in their first match.
