Entertainer Harry Belafonte was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for the U.N. Children’s Fund on Wednesday, becoming only the second American to be awarded the title. The announcement was made at a New York news conference a day after the death of comedian Danny Kaye, who was a UNICEF ambassador for more than 30 years. Other UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors include actress Liv Ullmann and actor Peter Ustinov.
