West Hollywood : Workshops for Disabled Set
A series of workshops on issues concerning the handicapped will be held in March as part of the city’s observance of Disability Awareness Month.
A discussion on “Independent Living: Enhancing the Quality of Your Life” is set for 1 p.m. today in Hall A, Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
On Wednesday at 1 p.m., in the same location, there will be a workshop on “Selecting and Managing a Home Care Attendant.”
On March 18, at 1 p.m., a workshop will be held in Plummer Park’s Multipurpose Room. The topic is “Self-Advocacy: Key to Independent Living.”
And on March 25 at 1 p.m., in the Multipurpose Room at Plummer Park, the topic will be “Housing Alternatives for Seniors and People with Disabilities.”
In addition, a telephone hot line will be set up for residents with disabilities. Calls will be taken from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at (213) 854-7471.
In conjunction with the Westside Center for Independent Living, the city is also sponsoring a survey to determine the availability of wheelchair-accessible businesses. For further information, call (213) 854-7460.
