Responding to a citizen’s complaint about a gunshot, Santa Ana police found a man in his 20s lying dead on a walkway early Saturday morning, with a single bullet wound in his chest, police said.
The victim remained unidentified late Saturday, and Santa Ana Police Lt. Mike Mitchell said investigators so far have found no witnesses to the murder and a motive is unknown.
Mitchell said that when officers found the victim at about 2:40 a.m., he was lying on the south side of an apartment walkway in the 300 block of South Flower Street. Paramedics took him to Western Medical Center, Santa Ana, but he was pronounced dead on arrival, Mitchell said.
