Warning Issued on Paying Taxes to Solicitors

L. A. County Assessor John J. Lynch warned homeowners not to pay property taxes, either cash or check, to anyone coming to the door.
“Neither the tax collector nor any deputy assessor is authorized to collect at the door,” he stressed.
The warning was prompted by the report of a woman paying $200 to a man who came to her door, impersonating a county deputy assessor.
