The 50th National Invitation Tournament, again settling for leftovers, will announce its participants tonight, hours after the NCAA has selected its field of 64 college basketball teams.
The NIT will invite 32 teams and will begin play at campus and neutral sites Thursday and Friday. Play will continue at various sites for the second round March 16-17 and the quarterfinals March 20-21.
The semifinals and final will be held at Madison Square Garden March 24 and 26.
