NHL Roundup : Blues Defeat Maple Leafs, 3-2, on Paslawski’s Goal in Overtime

Greg Paslawski scored from the slot with 59 seconds left in overtime Monday night to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at St. Louis.

The victory moved the Blues past Chicago and Minnesota into second place in the Norris Division, four points behind the Detroit Red Wings. St. Louis is 3-0-3 in its last six games.

The loss extended Toronto’s winless streak at St. Louis to 16 games (0-14-2). Toronto last won at St. Louis on Feb. 17, 1983.

Toronto’s Bill Root tied the score, 2-2, at 4:57 of the third period.

Brian Benning and Jocelyn Lemieux also scored for the Blues, and Tom Fergus scored for Toronto.

Montreal 5, Minnesota 4--Mike McPhee scored two third-period goals and Mats Naslund had four assists as the Canadiens turned back the North Stars at Bloomington, Minn.

The victory moved the Canadiens to within six points of first-place Hartford in the Adams Division. The loss was the third straight for the North Stars.

McPhee scored his goals three minutes apart to give Montreal a 5-2 lead. The North Stars rallied on two goals by Dennis Maruk, the last with five minutes left.
