New York City Opera will perform a two-week engagement in Taiwan in December, its first overseas tour since 1958. Company General Director Beverly Sills said Wednesday that 225 members of the company will travel to Taipei to give 12 performances of two operas and an operetta--Puccini’s “La Boheme,” Verdi’s “La Traviata,” and Romberg’s “The Student Prince”--Dec. 3 through Dec. 13. The performances will be part of the opening festival of Taiwan’s National Theater and Concert Hall complex in Taipei.
