Like some celebrities, Hollywood seems to be playing a little fast and loose with the facts on its age, reports Daily Variety. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will install an above ground time capsule packed with memorabilia during this year’s 100th birthday celebration. However, the chamber planted another time capsule commemorating Hollywood’s 50th birthday in 1954, which makes the world’s movie capital only 88. Officials said they’re now basing Hollywood’s age on the date the real estate subdivision by the same name was registered--Feb. 1,1887.
