Is There Noise Above Topanga?
Does columnist Al Martinez live in a soundproof underground bunker? Or does reporter Bob Pool have a buzzing in his ears?
I ask these questions because one day (March 2) Mr. Martinez tells us that the jetliners ascending over Topanga don’t constitute any noise problem. A few days later (March 4) Mr. Pool reports that an FAA official addressing Topanga residents about the problem was “partially drowned out” by an overflying jetliner.
It’s one thing if Mr. Martinez isn’t offended by the jet noise over the canyon. But in denying that the problem exists, he strains his credibility. Next thing you know, he’ll be putting down those who say there’s a congestion problem on the Ventura Freeway.
