A Southeast San Diego man was shot and killed early Friday as he sat in a car in Logan Heights, San Diego police said.
A witness told police they heard a gunshot at 2:51 a.m., then heard a car accelerate before ending up in the front yard of a home in the 300 block of Milbrae Street, said homicide Lt. Phil Jarvis.
Police found the body of Earl DeWitt Nelson, 37, sitting behind the steering wheel with a single gunshot wound to the head. Detectives said they believe Nelson was talking to someone in another car through the passenger window before he was shot.
Detectives had no motive for the shooting, Jarvis said.
