SDSU Doubles Team Clinches Win Over Yale
Donnie Young and John Cost combined for a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Bill Benjes and Andy Thurston in the No. 1 doubles match to give San Diego State a 5-4 victory over Yale in a nonconference college tennis match Friday at San Diego State.
The Aztecs (20-7) won four of the six singles matches, but Yale tied the match by winning two doubles matches. Then Young and Cost gave SDSU the victory.
The Aztecs on Tuesday play Utah at 3 p.m. A victory would make San Diego State the top seed in next month’s Western Athletic Conference tournament.
