The World Boxing Assn. voted to strip Marvelous Marvin Hagler of his middleweight championship for not making a mandatory title defense last December.

Hagler’s attorney, Morris Goldings, said he will file for an injunction Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Boston. Goldings says he believes he could get an injunction to keep the WBA from stripping Hagler before his fight against Sugar Ray Leonard April 6 at Las Vegas.

The World Boxing Council has sanctioned the fight as a championship match. The International Boxing Federation ruled March 14 it would not strip Hagler if he agrees within 30 days to fight its No. 1 contender in the next five months.
