An early morning rape of a 31-year-old La Verne woman may be one of a string of recent assaults by a single assailant in the East San Gabriel Valley area, police said. The knife-wielding rapist entered the apartment through a sliding glass door the victim had left open for her kittens. Like other victims in the series, she was alone at the time. Police said all of the attacks have taken place at night and in all cases an unlocked door or window was the means of entry.
