A Lakeside man led police and California Highway Patrol officers on a car chase exceeding 100 m.p.h. from La Mesa to Tijuana, then to San Ysidro, where he was arrested after fleeing his car.

Anthony Acosta, 20, was caught near the Southern Division station of the San Diego Police Department at 633 San Ysidro Blvd., La Mesa Police Sgt. Keith Sears said. Acosta was being held on suspicion of reckless driving, speeding, failing to yield and resisting arrest. Acosta also was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Sears said the incident began at 1:15 a.m. when La Mesa patrol units saw a motorist driving recklessly in the 4500 block of Spring Street. Officers signaled for the car to pull over, but the driver did not stop and fled west on California 94.
